Privacy Policy
Last updated 10 October 2026
Quick Flick is an iPhone app for finding films to watch with your partner. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, email ed@quickflick.app.
What we collect
- An account identifier. When you first open the app, it creates an anonymous account so your data can be saved. No name or email is needed.
- Your email address, if you sign in with Apple. You can choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option, in which case we only receive a private relay address.
- Your film ratings and filters. The films you like or dislike, when you rated them, and your chosen streaming services and genres.
- Pairing information. Your invite code and, if you pair with someone, which account you're paired with.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifier. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking across other apps or websites. We don't sell your data.
How it's used
Your data is only used to run the app: saving your ratings and filters across devices, and showing matches between you and your partner. When you pair with someone, they can see the films you've rated so the app can find matches. Unpairing stops this.
Services we rely on
- Google Firebase stores your account and app data. See Firebase's privacy information.
- The Movie Database (TMDB) provides film information. The app sends TMDB your country (from your device's region setting) and filter choices, but nothing that identifies you. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- YouTube plays trailers when you choose to watch one. YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that playback.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account and all its data at any time from the app's Settings screen. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data or to have it deleted.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, and to object to how it's used. Contact us to exercise any of these. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
Quick Flick isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
